What to check before you order

Buy by capacity in quarts, and go bigger than the recipe suggests. A bowl filled past about two thirds will spill when you whisk or toss. Think about the task: wide shallow bowls suit tossing salads and folding, deeper bowls suit whisking and holding batters. Stainless steel is the usual kitchen choice because it does not react with food and survives drops. Check that the sizes you pick nest together for storage. A common mistake is owning many small bowls and no large one.
